MINSK, 22 July (BelTA) – A Belarusian mall should be built on the site of the unfinished construction project launched by Iran in Minsk, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he toured the Stolitsa shopping mall in the center of Minsk, BelTA has learned.
The head of state was informed that practically no spaces were still available for rent in the Stolitsa shopping center - they were all taken, and mainly by domestic brands. The assortment of products sold by Belarusian manufacturers is huge: clothing and footwear, souvenirs, home textiles, dishes, accessories, food products, furniture and many more.
“The fact that you have finally turned this retail outlet into a Belarusian shopping mall is good,” the head of state responded. The president gave an instruction to build the same kind of retail facility on the site of the Minsk Magnet unfinished construction project at the intersection of Independence Avenue and Kalinovskogo Street. The construction works there began back in 2009. The project has never been completed.
“It is necessary to create the same kind of retail facility modeled on this shopping mall,” Aleksandr Lukashenko instructed. “We will focus on promoting Belarusian products. If foreign brands left the country, let it be so. We will sell our own products. Therefore, you need to build the same kind of shopping mall there,” the president noted.
The head of state gave an instruction to embark on the works on the site of the Iranian construction project right away.
“We should prioritize Belarusian products and manufacturers,” the head of state stressed.
