Lukashenko urges to step up land melioration

CHECHERSK, 29 April (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko urged everyone responsible to take a more serious approach to land reclamation during his working trip to Chechersk District on 29 April, BelTA has learned.

“This is the issue of state concern. Roads, melioration, fertility of land – this is all that concerns the state,” said Aleksandr Lukashenko.

The president gave special instructions regarding this issue to Deputy Prime Minister Leonid Zayats: “Take a look at the lands when planting is over. You will see how much inconsistency there is. We have to save these lands now.”

The head of state underlined that up to 200,000 hectares of land must be reclaimed every year and funds to do this must be found no matter what it costs. “This is the most important issue for me,” he said.
