Lukashenko urges Belarusians to develop objects of the future

MINSK, 8 May (BelTA) - If Belarus does not develop objects of the future, the country will be vulnerable, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at the opening ceremony of the Minsk International Exhibition Center on 8 May, BelTA has learned.

“If we do not look to the future, if we do not develop objects of the future, we will be vulnerable, we will be pushed to the back by others. And you will be discussing in your kitchens which country we will be a part of tomorrow. We are not going to be a part of anything. We will always be independent. However, to be independent, we must be interesting to those who are next to us. We need to be able to do a lot with our own hands,” the head of state stressed.

Therefore, according to the president, Belarus should constantly follow the best practices, adopt competencies, as it was the case, for example, with the construction of the nuclear power plant or the construction of the Minsk International Exhibition Center. “That was the idea behind this new development,” the president said.

Another landmark object will soon be built in Minsk. The facility will also feature modern technologies. We are talking about the museum of Belarusian statehood - the Belarusian National History Museum, the construction of which has begun in the People's Unity Park. “We need to show that we are not just a fragment of something. We need to show that this Belarusian land has a long history. A very long one. Perhaps it is longer than the history of many of our neighbors. We are from the distant past. We are 1,000 years old. When I meet Americans, I often say as a joke: ‘Well, guys, how old are you? Some 300 years old. We are over 1,000.’ We need to show it. First of all, we need to show it to our children, to ourselves. We need to show that we have a long history. We also need to show what we have achieved over this period of time,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

Showing its capabilities, Belarus demonstrates its constant openness and readiness to share its experience, supply technologies and products to partners abroad. This is the case with African countries, for example. It started with cooperation with Zimbabwe and supplies of domestic agricultural machinery, technology transfer, service and training centers for local specialists.

“They realized that we are not colonizers like the French, the British and others used to be. We came as friends. We want to give them technology and teach them. The main thing for them today is to feed their people. Can we do this? We can,” the president said. Thanks to cooperation with Belarus, Zimbabwe has managed to grow a record-high grain harvest to meet not only its own needs but also launch export.
