Lukashenko updates tasks for Belarusian Industry Ministry

MINSK, 4 March (BelTA) – We must strive for at least $6 billion in export of industrial products, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he addressed the re-appointed Industry Minister Aleksandr Yefimov, BelTA learned.

“As for the manufacturing sector, exports should be at least $6 billion. We should grow by 5.5% over last year. Diversification is another important goal,” the head of state said.
Aleksandr Lukashenko recalled his recent visit to Oman, the agreements and the instructions given to the industry minister. “You saw everything with your own eyes, and I told you then: we should get a foothold there at least in one or two areas, preferably three,” the head of state noted.

The president noted that the dealerships have great stocks of vehicles and warned against repeating the previous negative things. “There were cases when vehicles were there, on sale until there were not, and we didn't find who to collect the money from. It's millions of dollars. It was a lot of money. So it's unacceptable. The growth of accounts receivable is a problem too,” he noted.

The head of state also recalled the task to ensure quality service of machinery in all Russian regions.

“High-tech industries such as microelectronics, machine tool construction see a colossal demand in the Russian Federation. When we visited aircraft manufacturing plants, they asked for our machines tools. They are satisfied with their quality. We need to develop this segment,” the head of state noted.

In conclusion, Aleksandr Lukashenko once again highlighted the need to improve the quality of products. “It is the most important thing. I do not take criticism on the internet very seriously. But recently I have read one remark. Someone tried to leave the MAZ grounds driving a MAZ truck but couldn’t because the truck was hard to control... It wasn't assembled properly. There's no smoke without fire. I realize that some things may be exaggerated. Some things just cannot happen. But we must be very serious about it ,” he said.
