Lukashenko: United States, EU failed to rally the world against Russia, Belarus

MINSK, 2 July (BelTA) – The United States and the EU failed to rally the world against Russia and Belarus. So new provocations will follow, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at a meeting in the run-up to Independence Day in Minsk on 2 July, BelTA has learned.

"The United States and the West failed to unite the world against Russia and Belarus. So new provocations will follow," Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.

The president noted that all the processes in Ukraine are run by the United States and Europe. "Now it is called the European Union, or rather NATO. First of all, they want the war to continue to bog us and the Russia down in this war. So that we do not care about other places in the world. Most importantly: through Russia they want to get closer to the main rival - China," the head of state said.

However, the United States has not been able to rally the world, the president stated: "Look: the Middle East, Pakistan, India, China, the nuclear powers, and Asia stay calm. Let's be honest: some are waiting but do not support what NATO is doing in Ukraine, or do not support the actions that are dragging people into this war, which in fewer than 200 days has already killed, probably 10 times more people than in the war Afghanistan in 10 years.

The West needed new provocations to show Belarusians and Russians in a terrible light, the head of state believes. Among such provocations were the events in Bucha, the situation around the export of grain from Ukraine, the blocking of cargoes to the Russian Kaliningrad.

"Where is Bucha today? They are yet to present a single piece of evidence: who was killed, how they were killed," the Belarusian leader recalled.

“They continued with grain, famine. How to turn Africa against Russia, Belarus? People there are struggling and things will get worse there. They found a reason to blame Belarus and Russia who are allegedly blocking the export of grain from Ukraine which could save the whole world from hunger,” the president cited another example. “Tell me where this grain problem is today? The Russian president and I have outlined five, and later seven routes for the export of grain – you are welcome to use any,” he added. In this regard, Aleksandr Lukashenko recalled his conversation with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, in which the Belarusian leader suggested exporting grain through Belarus and removing sanctions from the country in return: “I was promised that the issue would be solved. But Washington said no. Then I said: “All right, don't lift the sanctions. Export grain to the poor.” Why does it take them so long to do it? Because there is no grain there.” According to Aleksandr Lukashenko, the Ukraine grain numbers, which were mentioned by the West, were greatly exaggerated, and in fact this is no more than 0.5% of the world's volume. “They just needed an excuse to show ‘how cruel we are',” the Belarusian leader said.

When the grain supply story did not work either, they went further and started provoking Russia by blockading its territory, Kaliningrad.

“I do not know how this will end up. They have already started making excuses, especially the Lithuanians saying that it was not them, but the European Union,” the president said. According to him, this issue was discussed during his recent meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Then the Belarusian head of state pointed out that it was Lithuania that initiated the EU decision to stop supplies to Kaliningrad and voted for this decision. “The United States has ordered Poland and Lithuania to aggravate the situation in order to start a new war here,” said Aleksandr Lukashenko.
