Lukashenko unhappy about hostile actions of Ukrainian authorities

MINSK, 9 August (BelTA) – Official Ukrainian authorities have helped smuggle weapons into Belarus. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement during a meeting with representatives of the general public, experts, and mass media titled as the Big Conversation with the President on 9 August, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko noted he had always supported Ukraine and Ukrainian authorities and even understands why they take unfriendly steps towards Belarus in order to please the West. “Well, [Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy] chases after the West. He let it all hang. But why did he have to train militants in Ukraine and smuggle weapons to Belarus? Weapons primarily come from Ukraine after all. We've certainly totally secured this border now. Why do they have to do it? Belarusians and Ukrainians are neighbors, they are a family,” the president stressed.

The head of state pointed out that Belarusian mass media had repeatedly demonstrated how explosives and ammunition had been transported from Ukraine to Belarus. “Our chairman of the State Security Committee has said very clearly: we see which representatives of security, defense, and law enforcement agencies and official authorities in Ukraine organize it,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stated.
