Lukashenko: Ukrainian military phoned home to say farewell before incursion into Kursk Oblast

MINSK, 19 August (BelTA) – Before invading Russia’s Kursk Oblast Ukrainian military personnel were in a rush to phone home to say farewell to their relatives. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement in an extended version of the recent interview with the TV channel Rossiya. The extended version was aired by the TV channel Belarus One in the evening, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “We know it for sure that before joining the army, Ukrainians say farewell to everyone. During the offensive outside Kursk all the Ukrainians were in a rush to phone home and say farewell to their relatives. Those, who were on the way to Kursk, had said farewell to their relatives. Why do you abandon these people? They die for no reason. They understand the uselessness.”

BelTA reported earlier that during the interview Aleksandr Lukashenko said that there were no amateurs among the Ukrainian fighters, who had invaded Russia’s Kursk Oblast. They were gathered from the entire line of contact with the enemy. Those were mostly battle-hardened people.

“Naturally, the military and Putin will lay down their lives to demolish the Ukrainian military over there. One starts wondering why they had been sent over there. To bury the best trained fighters? After all, the best ones were assembled over there. What will happen to other sectors of the frontline?” the head of state wondered.
