Lukashenko: Ukrainian leadership would like conflict with Russia to go nuclear

KAZAN, 23 October (BelTA) – I am convinced that the Ukrainian leadership would like the conflict with Russia to go nuclear, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said in an interview with VGTRK journalist Olga Skabeyeva on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Russia’s Kazan, BelTA has learned.

"There was a lot of talk about nuclear weapons and Russia’s plans to use them. The Ukrainian authorities would like Russia to strike Ukraine with nuclear weapons. They need escalation. The West, the Anglo-Saxons need it too. Because they have no other options left," the Belarusian leader said. “But Putin is doing a great job. He has figured it out. Your leadership, the military-political one, has figured it out. Of course, they could have used them. No problem. But when taking a step, you need to understand what will happen next. You always have to think next steps ahead."

"But the fact that the Ukrainian leadership would like a nuclear conflict ... Listen, I am convinced more than 300%. I just know it. I will not name these sources yet, but I know it," the Belarusian leader added.
