MINSK, 9 August (BelTA) – A representative of the American TV channel CNN mentioned repressions in her question during a meeting of Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko with representatives of the general public, experts, and mass media titled as the Big Conversation with the President on 9 August, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Lukashenko responded by saying: “It is very simple for me to talk to Americans. Can you tell me please (I am answering your question): why did you shoot a girl, who had participated in wars in defense of the United States of America and its interests, in the Congress? After this the question about my repressions of the population just fades away. You are accustomed to thinking you are the top dog and can do anything. How many people have you jailed after events in the Congress? Was it legal when you stomped all over the legally elected president (I mean Trump), removed him from mass media, from YouTube and the rest, and installed your own president?”
The head of state noted that during a presidential election in the USA citizens voted by mail, ballots were thrown away, and there were other multiple violations. Yet Aleksandr Lukashenko noted if vote by mail had been allowed in Belarus, the country would have been shredded to pieces. “But you are allowed to do that. You do mayhem all over the world and dare talk to me about repressions. There have been no repressions on my part. I accepted rules of the game of the bandits, who invaded our sovereign and independent country under the supervision of American intelligence services. I am the president and I have to protect this state according to the Constitution. That's what I did,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. “What repressions are you talking about? Did I shoot someone? Did I kill someone?”
Aleksandr Lukashenko added that opponents of the Belarusian state are now trying to organize an international tribunal for him. But they have nothing to work with. “So they keep searching for something to nail me with…” he added.
Asked about the incident with a Ryanair aircraft, Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that Belarus is open to an international investigation. “Why didn't you come to investigate? Present the facts, keep your hands on the table, come and prove that Lukashenko forced this aircraft to land. But you are not coming to investigate because you have all the facts and you see that it won't work out,” the head of state noted.
