Lukashenko to take part in Dazhynki 2024 festival in Mikashevichi

MIKASHEVICHI, 5 October (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko is expected to take part in the harvest festival Dazhynki 2024 in the town of Mikashevichi, Brest Oblast on 5 October, BelTA has learned.

The head of state will present government awards to outstanding workers of agribusiness enterprises.

BelTA reported earlier that Aleksandr Lukashenko visited OAO Parokhonskoye in Pinsk District, Brest Oblast the day before. It is one of the most advanced agricultural enterprises in the region. While talking to residents of the agrotown of Parokhonsk, he noted that he would like to travel to every oblast in order to thank farmers. “Because you did great. I wasn’t wrong when I said that there can be no country without peasants, without agriculture. And every year you demonstrate that you are genuine, strong people. You didn’t fail me,” the Belarusian leader stressed.

As part of the Dazhynki festival in Mikashevichi guests are expected to enjoy an extensive concert program, a fair, and various master classes from artisans. Children’s playgrounds and amusement rides have been arranged. Festive fireworks are expected in the evening.

In 2024 Brest Oblast harvested over 1.560 million tonnes of grain, including rapeseed. The average yield of cereals and leguminous crops (without maize, buckwheat, and millet) stood at 38 centners per hectare.

Over 30 years Brest Oblast’s agricultural output more than doubled. The region’s share in the country’s total output stands at 22.5%. Grain production increased by 1.8 times, with sugar beet output up by 2.9 times. Through reliance on modern technologies for cultivating agricultural crops, the local farmers have managed to significantly increase crop yields.
