MINSK, 8 July (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko will make a working trip to Mogilev Oblast to discuss agricultural issues, BelTA has learned.
One of the key topics on the agenda will be the development of goat breeding at Mogilev State Breeding Enterprise.
In 2021, the enterprise started working on a breeding program. To this end, 350 female and 20 male goats of the Saanen and Alpine breeds were imported into Belarus. Work is underway to create high-genetic-potential breeding herds in the country, which will help the country to replace import of pedigree goat stock and enable export of this new type of breeding product. Work is in progress to set up an artificial insemination station.
The total number of goats in Belarus across all types of farms is 48,000. Of these, 93% are kept in household farms, 2% - in private farms, and the remaining 5% - in agricultural enterprises.
