MINSK, 10 June (BelTA) – During a government conference held on 10 June to discuss matters concerning the development of the national movie industry Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko recalled events of the year 2020, BelTA has learned.

Speaking about representatives of the cultural sphere, the head of state reminded them how some of them acted in 2020. “Let’s face it that year demonstrated who is who. And you were at the forefront. What would have happened if we hadn’t persevered in 2020? We would have had a war… Not even a war! We would have stopped existing a long time ago! You see what is happening in Ukraine. We would not have existed here,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.

Some people of art demonstrated the kind of emotions that they should have kept to themselves instead of succumbing to them, the president is convinced. “I don’t want to indiscriminately accuse all of you. You are emotionally driven people. So am I. But emotions should be used for the benefit of the cause at times. And they should be hidden until the time is right. Don’t rush it. Why are you in a hurry? You don’t rush to make movies. But you took to the streets in short skirts. You managed to do it. And you ‘raped’ everyone over there,” the head of state said.
