Lukashenko to meet with senior officials of Gomel Oblast

MINSK, 21 December (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko plans to present the new governor of Gomel Oblast and to meet with senior officials of the region on 22 December. The head of state made the statement as he made new appointments on 21 December, BelTA informs.

“Ivan Ivanovich, we will talk about you a lot tomorrow,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said addressing the new Chairman of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee Ivan Krupko.

Later the new governor told reporters: “The meeting [with senior officials of Gomel Oblast] is scheduled for tomorrow. Part of the goals have been set today, the broader discussion with me and the senior officials of Gomel Oblast will take place tomorrow,” Ivan Krupko said.

BelTA reported earlier that last week the head of state appointed two new governors and presented them at meetings with senior officials of those regions. He presented Anatoly Isachenko in Mogilev Oblast on 14 December and Aleksandr Subbotin in Vitebsk Oblast on 15 December. In both cases the meetings with senior officials focused on pending issues and future prospects of the regions, the priorities of the state especially in view of the foreign political situation and the forthcoming referendum.
