MINSK, 27 March (BelTA) – While approving the appointment of heads of local executive and administrative bodies on 27 March Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko reminded them of the tasks ahead, BelTA has learned.
“I will not voice any tasks for you: you know them very well, you have heard about them, so why should we оver-intellectualize here. This five-year period will not be easy. I would really like you to put in an extra effort during this five-year period,” said Aleksandr Lukashenko.
He noted that Belarus is trying to gain a foothold on new markets, but it is necessary to double down on it. “We have established ourselves not only in the markets of Russia and China – we see a huge interest today on the part of Indonesia and Myanmar. North Korea is already asking us for some products. Countries in Africa are looking forward to them. We were in Oman not long ago - they do not have wood, they need foodstuffs. And do we not have this? I even suggested: build partnerships with Vitebsk Oblast - they will produce food for you, and you can also launch wood processing operations here. Their representatives have recently paid a visit. Therefore, everyone just needs to make an effort. That is why I suggested setting up at least one enterprise in each district,” the president emphasized.
The head of state also reminded the heads of district executive committees about the task to revive mobile mechanical units, Selkhoztekhnika enterprises and other enterprises, such as feed mills, which many districts need.
“The districts need all this. All this has to be revived. We have already restored half of these facilities, but in the coming two or three years we must revive the rest. In other words, everyone will have enough work. People should have a job and work as if they own this land, that is they should always have a shovel, rake, scythe and axe at their disposal,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said figuratively.
“We gave you more powers and not just on paper. I want you to hear my point and my instructions: we will gradually give you more rights and powers. And in order to exercise them, you must have not only a housing and utilities office, but also industrial enterprises and other facilities.”
National-level enterprises should not be neglected either, the president noted. Although they have a completely different level of subordination, they employ local residents. “Don't think that these are someone else’s companies. Your people work there, you are responsible for them. Therefore, you should demand order, cleanliness, good wages and sales of products. Do not forget that this is your area of responsibility. Do not wait for any instructions on it,” the head of state said setting the task.
“And I want to remind you about the things I said when I was sworn in office. We made promises to people. And we must deliver. Die, but do it. Therefore, we will press ahead,” the Belarusian leader said.
