Lukashenko to farmers: Planting is an art

PETRIKOV DISTRICT, 3 August (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko gave advice to agricultural workers on how to plant efficiently, BelTA has learned.

“I want to reiterate one thing: planting is an art. If he [a company head] and an agronomist oversee the work of machine operators on the ground, this work will be done properly. If not, machine operators might botch it. I see this from above on board an aircraft. A seeder worked well on some patches of land, and failed in others. A machine operator is told at a meeting to go and sow some field. So he does it alone, without any supervision or oversight. We need high-quality sowing. That's a priority,” the head of state said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko also expressed his concern over other issues: “There are no unimportant things now. We have forgotten how to plow. If you look at the field, it is full of ridges. The plow is not adjusted. If you plow evenly, then you will spend less time doing other operations.” Another instruction was to take a very good care of equipment, especially imported machinery. In this regard, the domestic industry should take it up a notch and put in more effort in import substitution.

All in all, equipment must be maintained very well. “In order for equipment to operate properly, there must be order in the machine yard. Enter through one gate - exit through this gate. Strict control,” Aleksandr Lukashenko remarked.
