Lukashenko to attend inauguration of Petrikov Mining and Processing Plant

PETRIKOV DISTRICT, 27 August (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko will go on a working trip to Petrikov District, Gomel Oblast on 27 August. The head of state will take part in the solemn inauguration ceremony of Petrikov Mining and Processing Plant of the Belaruskali potash producer, BelTA has learned.

The head of state will be briefed on the progress to spruce up the town of Petrikov and the implementation of the investment project to build Petrikov Mining and Processing Plant.

Belaruskali embarked on this project in 2012. Construction and installation works began in March 2013. About $1.5 billion was invested in the project. As of 1 August 2021, the mine produced about 1.4 million tonnes of ore, while the processing plant made almost 158,000 tonnes of potash fertilizers.

The mine administration employs over 800 people. Several multi-family houses and a kindergarten have been built for them since 2013.
