Lukashenko attends ceremony to launch new stations of Minsk metro

MINSK, 30 December (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko attended the grand opening of a new section of the third line of Minsk metro. These are  Aerodromnaya, Nemorshansky Sad and Slutsky Gostinets stations, BelTA informs.
The head of state was briefed of the prospects of Minsk metro development. Aleksandr Lukashenko talked to the employees of the Minsk metro and toured the new stations.

Construction of the new 4.08km-long section of the third line of Minsk metro from Aerodromnaya station to Slutsky Gostinets station was launched in August 2017. About 90% of the equipment and materials used are Belarus-made.

The completion of this section of the third line allows offering fast transportation from the Kurasovshchina area and the Minsk Mir area to other parts of the city. A transport triangle has been created in the center of the city, with transfer stations serving as its corners: Oktyabrskaya-Kupalovskaya, Ploshchad Lenina-Vokzalnaya, Frunzenskaya-Yubileinaya Ploshchad. The passenger traffic at the existing transfer station between the second line and the third line is expected to go down.

The third line of the metro system boasts a new generation of technological solutions, high automation of management processes and control of engineering equipment. It has smart systems for managing the train traffic, passage payments, fire safety, new solutions for transferring and processing data about the work of all the metro systems. Automatic doors have been installed on the platform to serve as barriers for the sake of passenger safety.

Various interior design solutions have been implemented at the station. For instance, the Slutsky Gostinets metro station’s interior design boasts a collection of historic metaphors, quotes in ultramodern shapes and colors. Slutsk sashes are believed to be part of the famous historic heritage. Some of the patterns used by the sashes have been borrowed by the station’s interior design.

A garden is the main artistic idea of the interior design of the Nemorshansky Sad metro station. An image of modern life and culture is influenced by ecologization. Although the space of the station is not connected to the outdoor environment, the designers were intent on creating a mood of being in a garden under the shade of trees and creating an emotional connection to the outdoor environment.

In turn, the Aerodromnaya metro station’s design is built around the idea of flying. The key element of the interior design of the station’s platform is floating rectangular lights on an aluminum floating ceiling with a mirror surface in the central part of the dome of the platform section.

The Minsk development plan includes a section on transport infrastructure, including the development of rail passenger transport. It envisages four lines of Minsk Metro, one of which is a ring line. The total length of the third line will be 16 km. The line will connect the southern and northern parts of Minsk with its center.

The fourth metro line is expected to exceed 25km and intersect with other three lines. The route of the line will duplicate the second road ring. The fourth line will finally ease the traffic at the interchange hub between the first and second lines and create transport and interchange hubs between all types of urban and suburban transport.
