Lukashenko: Thousands of volunteers are ready to join the army after the border situation deteriorated

MINSK, 3 July (BelTA) – After the situation at the border deteriorated, thousands of volunteers contacted military registration and enlistment offices and expressed their readiness to defend Belarus. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement during an army parade held on 3 July to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Belarus’ liberation from Nazi invaders, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko remarked that there is a lot of talk about weapons and ammunition but people are the key.

“After the situation at our southern borders deteriorated yesterday, thousands of calls were placed to military enlistment offices and army units, to our military, to generals: ‘We want to join the army. Give us weapons. We will defend our Motherland!’ No need. Work calmly. You have a lot of workdays ahead of you. And we, people in uniform, are capable of not only defending. We are capable of preventing any provocation at the state borders of our country,” the president stated.
