MINSK, 31 October (BelTA) - The United States, despite its potential, has proved incapable of being a pillar of global security, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at the 2nd Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security on 31 October, BelTA has learned.
According to the head of state, having given itself the title of the leader of the free world after the collapse of the entire socialist camp, and despite all its potential, the United States proved incapable of being a global support and guarantor of security in the broadest sense of the term.
“Believe me, I have no desire to hit anyone with the Cold War labels. But this is an obvious fact. We should not hide it if we want to understand the reasons and take necessary measures,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. “What about international institutions?” you may ask. They, called to be a universal mediator or arbitrator, often demonstrate complete paralysis, limiting themselves to empty statements and representative functions. The absence of checks and balances has led to the degradation of security in all sectors.”
