Lukashenko: The next five-year period will not be easy

MINSK, 5 November (BelTA) - The next five-year period will not be an easy one, but the society stays united and the country’s economy is showing good results, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at a meeting to discuss the election campaign 2025 in Minsk on 5 November, BelTA has learned.

“Our society seems united. The economy is showing good results. I must say however that the next five-year period, and even the next year, is not going to be easy. I am always trying to protect our society against any mentioning of sanctions. Yet, all of them are still in place,” the head of state said.

According to Aleksandr Lukashenko, Russia is the main target of sanctions. Belarus is also targeted to be prevented from circumventing these restrictions through it. “Of course, these sanctions affect the economy in one way or another. We have built logistics, found the ways to supply our goods and so on. But prices have gone up because of new logistics supplies. Companies would be much richer if there were no such obstacles. We will be looking for appropriate ways out of such a situation,” the president said.

The main thing is the order and proper organization within the country, he stressed. Aleksandr Lukashenko discussed the matter with Grodno Oblast Governor Vladimir Karanik during his recent visit to the region. The head of state stressed that it was the best region while such problems were many in other, especially eastern, regions. “We should also pay attention to this,” the Belarusian leader said.
