Lukashenko tests new Belarusian axe

MINSK, 31 May (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has tested a new Belarusian axe. The Pul Pervogo Telegram channel shared the relevant video on 31 May, BelTA has learned.

“This is a good axe, but still there is room for perfection,” the head of state said.

It is a well-known fact that the president loves and knows how to chop wood. He has repeatedly expressed his disappointment of the fact that there is no high-quality domestically-made equipment. Thus, Aleksandr Lukashenko has recently instructed industrialists to make the main tool for the national woodworking sector.

Vice Premier Piotr Parkhomchik presented the first samples of the modern national axes to the president during his working visit to Orsha on 29 May. Not long ago Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko tested the new axes and Aleksandr Lukashenko promised to try them out themselves.

“It is a shame to have more than a half [of the country's territory] covered in forests and continue imports. One more instruction for him. He [Deputy Prime Minister Piotr Parkhomchik, who supervises industry] should address all the issues related to the sector. If they cannot produce something for a chainsaw, we will buy it at the first stages. He should address the issue within a year. We should not import such things,” the head of state said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko instructed the State Control Committee to look into the matter, since millions of US dollars are spent to purchase such products every year.
