MINSK, 12 August (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko appointed Viktor Karankevich Deputy Prime Minister in charge of overseeing the manufacturing sector on 12 August. The president told the new deputy prime minister not to play it safe initially but to get down to work right away, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “I am only afraid, Viktor Mikhailovich [Karankevich], that due to your careful character and your youth you may want to play it safe at the beginning. But you have to understand that calm life is no longer an option. The manufacturing sector is the foundation of the country, of the economy. It must produce results.”

The president also instructed the former deputy prime minister, who is now the new head of the Brest Oblast administration Piotr Parkhomchik to bring Viktor Karankevich up to speed about the tasks the country’s manufacturing sector faces.

“We will tell him everything and will show him everything. He will finish what I left unfinished,” Piotr Parkhomchik assured.

“How did you leave something unfinished? Then it is still on you. Find the time somehow and your place in the matters that have not been finished,” the head of state warned.
