MINSK DISTRICT, 31 December (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko spoke about his plans for New Year's Eve as he talked to the staff of the Belarusian Research Center for Pediatric Oncology, Hematology and Immunology and journalists on 31 December, BelTA has learned.
“I will spend New Year's Eve as usual. I have already said: when everyone is drinking (and everyone drinks on New Year's Eve), at least one person who is responsible for the country should be on duty and sober,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. “This is easy for me as I am a teetotaler,” he added.
The president stressed that it is not a publicity stunt and he is always on duty during all the main holidays. “If I can (I can hardly remember the last time I slept well), I will watch my own address to the Belarusian nation,” Aleksandr Lukashenko noted. According to him, the address was recorded in an unusual format and he is curious to see the result.
