MINSK, 31 May (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko took a swim in the Black Sea following the invitation of his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. By the way, the water temperature was not very comfortable for swimming – just 16°C, BelTA learned from the Telegram channel Pul Pervogo.
“For all concerned people: the Belarusian president accepted the invitation of his Russian counterpart to go for a swim in the Black Sea. The water temperature was 16°C,” Pul Pervogo said.
The channel illustrated this information with a corresponding photo of the Belarusian head of state.
It seems that Telegram users wanted to know whether Aleksandr Lukashenko would have a swim in the Black Sea after the informal meeting between the Belarusian head of state and Russia President Vladimir Putin. According to Pul Pervogo, Russian colleagues described it as “a working swim”.
However, the photos which were spread across the internet after the meeting showed that the two leaders went on a boat trip. Aleksandr Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin had a conversation at dinner table, took a walk along the deck and even watched dolphins.
On that day it was rather cold, gloomy and windy in Sochi, and the presidents were dressed in light jackets.
BelTA reported earlier that during the talks in Sochi on 28 May President of Russia Vladimir Putin invited his Belarusian counterpart to take a swim in the sea.
As they stopped talking about business, the Russian leader noted it was good weather in Sochi. “We can go for a swim,” he invited.
The Belarusian president responded by saying: “With pleasure”.
“The sea is getting warmer and warmer. I think it will also contribute to the achievement of results of today's meeting,” Vladimir Putin said.
Aleksandr Lukashenko thanked his counterpart for the invitation: “On a Friday so that we could take a dip in the sea on the weekend. It is how I understood this invitation.”
In spite of the cold water, the official chronicles showed that the president of Belarus had a warm welcome in Sochi. The two leaders had a friendly and constructive conversation and reached a number of important agreements.
