Lukashenko, Synod discuss current situation

MINSK, 14 March (BelTA) – It is important to talk to people and explain to them the situation around the country. The Church has a role to play in this too, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said during a meeting with members of the Synod of the Belarusian Orthodox Church, BelTA has learned.

"The situation is not easy. We need to talk to people and convey all this to them. Not only that. We need to touch their hearts. Apart from the Church, hardly anyone can do this," the head of state said.

Summing up the meeting, he thanked the members of the Synod for the conversation and noted that he did not see any insurmountable problems among the issues raised. "I think, Your Eminence, we will cope with them. Let's see how best to do it," the president said. “I just want to tell you that we are facing very serious problems. We must see them and also our flaws in an objective way."

As for the situation in the world, Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that “they want to set fire, create chaos everywhere": "Because they don't want a multipolar world. They want to run the world like they used to. I mean Americans. We will have to go this way. But we will get through."

"God willing!" one of the participants in the meeting added.

"Yes, God willing. If we behave decently, maybe he [the God] will see this and help us in some way. But, on the other hand, heaven helps those who help themselves," Aleksandr Lukashenko concluded.
