Lukashenko suggests Labor Law reforms for diplomats' spouses

MINSK, 31 July (BelTA) - Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko called for amendments to labor legislation concerning diplomats' spouses as he met with heads of Belarus’ diplomatic missions in Minsk on 31 July, BelTA has learned.

“We expect diplomats to exemplify professionalism both at work and in personal life. While we prefer sending family personnel abroad, this removes spouses from the workforce, denying them career opportunities and adequate pension contributions. Most of them possess higher education and valuable experience,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

The president highlighted the need to facilitate spouses' swift reintegration into Belarus' workforce: “Our economic situation can't afford pushing skilled professionals into domestic roles. You understand what I mean,” he added.

“The Labor and Social Security Ministry needs to look into the matter and propose necessary legislative adjustments,” the head of state instructed.
