ORSHA, 29 May (BelTA) – The government will help build housing in the communities where new companies and factories are opened, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said while visiting Legmash Plant in Orsha on 29 May, BelTA has learned.

The head of state noted that companies that expand their operations and branch out into other industries need  more workers. “You will need people. We will help you. First of all, with housing construction,” he said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko remarked that the military are among those who can apply for subsidized housing in priority manner. They cannot engage in commercial activities and devote their lives to serving the Motherland. “We should provide them with a solid backup,” the president emphasized.

Another priority group for the government are large families.

That said, Aleksandr Lukashenko deems it necessary to build housing in those communities where new production capacities are created. Orsha is among them. “If we build new factories, we should also build housing there. It will be an incentive for people to come and work there. This approach was used in the Soviet Union. We will also do it and support not only you, but all other enterprises that open and grow,” he said.

“There is enough space for new construction in Orsha. The city is beautiful. There are few such cities in the world, even in Belarus. Excellent living conditions. There must be housing. We will work on it,” added Aleksandr Lukashenko.
