MINSK, 1 July (BelTA) – At a solemn gathering on 1 July dedicated to upcoming Independence Day, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko criticized the world's response to the conflict between Israel and Iran, BelTA has learned.

“We already see that the Middle East is on fire. The world has not yet recovered from the horrific images of the Israeli-Palestinian massacre; and in this place some want to create a holiday resort. Just think about it – a resort standing on the bones of people, children. We were still recovering from this when bombs were dropped on Iranian cities. And where are the so-called international human rights activists who claim to care about democratic rights and freedoms? Their voices are not heard. What about the year 2020 and the subsequent period in Belarus?” noted Aleksandr Lukashenko.

Many criticized Belarus back then; the West imposed sanctions on the country and sticks to this policy to this day. Why has no one imposed sanctions now?
“Remember, I said: do not rush into judgment, time will put everything in its place. And it has indeed put everything in its place. We see the truth and we see their true colors. And we don’t take for granted what happened in 2020. We deserve credit for stopping this scum that attempted a coup in our country, which would have had much greater repercussions than in our brotherly Ukraine,” the Belarusian leader said.
He drew attention to the lack of response to the strikes on Iran on the part of the so-called supranational institutions that are supposed to be guarantors of global security.
“But there is a clear understanding of the situation in our country, the development strategy in these conditions,” the president added.
