MINSK, 3 January (BelTA) – Attempts have been made from abroad to exert pressure on members of election commissions in Belarus, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at a meeting with the chairmen of regional executive committees and Minsk City Executive Committee in Minsk on 3 January, BelTA learned.
“We need to help the election commissions at the polling stations. We see that these scoundrels [opponents from outside] are already exerting pressure on our commission members, especially senior officials,” the Belarusian leader said.
“I'm very glad no one is afraid. They openly say: ‘Yes, we are members of commissions and we will conduct and organize the election!” But we need to get either police or the military involved.
