KAZAN, 23 October (BelTA) – I very much doubt that U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump would be able to end the war in Ukraine fast if he wins the election, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he gave an interview to journalist Olga Skabeyeva of the Rossiya TV channel on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia on 23 October, BelTA has learned.
“I do not like his thesis of ending the war with Ukraine by putting it like ‘I'll do it!’” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
He said that he jokingly asked his Russian counterpart about it: “Tell me please how Trump is going to make you end the war? Will he come, stomp his foot and say: ‘Stop it!' And you will run and end it?”
“I as president do not even imagine this happening. Will he come to Russia and say so? Skabeyeva will put him in his place in 20 seconds [in her TV show],” the head of state added.
