MINSK, 12 December (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has signed decree No.439 on converting specifically protected natural territories, the press service of the head of state told BelTA.
The document adjusts borders, areas, and the composition of the lands belonging to the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve, the national parks Braslav Lakes and Pripyatsky due to changes of the borders of districts and oblasts.
Lands, which purpose does not meet nature protection purposes, have been removed from the list of specifically protected natural territories. Those are lands of populated localities, lands used by transport communications (oil pipelines, power transmission lines, communication lines, and public roads).
The list of specifically protected natural territories has been expanded with lands occupied by trees and shrubs (plantations) that are adjacent to these territories and some small land plots, which cannot be effectively used for agriculture.
On the whole, as a result of the changes the areas of the specifically protected natural territories have increased. It will have a favorable effect on the ecosystem. No additional restrictions and prohibitions concerning the protection and use of these lands are stipulated.
