MINSK, 24 June (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has congratulated Lieutenant of the Grand Master of the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, of Rhodes and of Malta Marco Luzzago on the country's national holiday, the nativity of Saint John the Baptist, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.
The head of state noted that cooperation with the Sovereign Military Order of Malta is of particular importance for Belarus: “The Sovereign Military Order of Malta has remained a real champion of the ideas of peace, harmony and love for more than 900 years, as evidenced by their stance and disinterested assistance to our country.”
This year marks the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations. “Shared views allowed us to effectively support each other at international platforms, jointly promote initiatives on the most important issues of our time for a quarter of a century,” the message reads.
Aleksandr Lukashenko drew attention to the fact that Belarus shares the values that are pivotal for Malta. “It is fair treatment of our country that we are demanding now, we are calling for good judgment on the part of foreign partners, we are emphasizing the importance of refraining from hasty emotional declarations and actions, we are boosting the strength of spirit in order to remain faithful to our people and the path that they have chosen,” the president emphasized.
