Lukashenko sends Independence Day greetings to India

MINSK, 15 August (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko extended greetings to Indian President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the people of India as the country celebrates Independence Day, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

“Thanks to the independent course of the Indian government, its exclusive focus on the interests of the people and responsible approach in foreign policy, India rightfully enjoys well-deserved authority in the global arena and plays an important role in addressing pressing issues on the international agenda,” the head of state said in the message of greetings addressed to Draupadi Murmu.

The head of state emphasized that Belarus highly appreciates the activities of the Indian authorities in implementing large-scale social and economic reforms, ensuring stability and harmony in the country.

Aleksandr Lukashenko pointed out that Minsk is always striving to deepen the dialogue with New Delhi and expects to take the relations to a qualitatively new level in both political, trade and economic sectors through active joint efforts. “I will be glad to discuss with you possible steps in this area during our  meeting,” the Belarusian president said in his message of greetings to the president of India. The head of state also thanked Draupadi Murmu for her principled support for Belarus' joining the Shanghai Cooperation Organization as a full member.

In his message of greetings to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Aleksandr Lukashenko said that Belarus cherishes the good friendly relations that have developed between the two countries and help them find mutual interest in various sectors.

“I am convinced that thanks to the effective implementation of the roadmap measures to develop key areas of cooperation, we will be able to bring our partnership to a qualitatively new level,” the Belarusian leader said.
