
MINSK, 23 May (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has sent condolences to President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Luong Cuong over the death of former President Tran Duc Luong of Vietnam, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.
The head of state emphasized that Belarus received the news of the death of Tran Duc Luong with great sorrow.
“Your country has lost an outstanding political figure, a true son and patriot. His services to the state and the people, his significant contribution to the social and economic development of his homeland, expansion of its foreign policy interests and circle of friends across the world are highly appreciated both in Vietnam and abroad,” the letter of condolences runs.
“I will remember our meeting in 1998 with warmth. His visit to Minsk laid the foundation for sustainable strengthening of Belarusian-Vietnamese relations,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
He expressed deep condolences and conveyed words of support to the family and friends of Tran Duc Luong, as well as to the entire Vietnamese people.
