Lukashenko sends Africa Day greetings to African Union chairman

MINSK, 25 May (BelTA) – On behalf of the Belarusian people and himself Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko congratulated President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Chairman of the African Union Mohamed Ould Cheikh AI-Ghazouani and all the heads of state and government of African countries on Africa Day, BelTA learned from the press service of the head of state.

It would not be an overstatement to say that these days Africa plays a very important role in the life of the entire planet, the Belarusian leader noted. “This is not only a huge market and provider of natural resources, but also a treasury of unique culture. It is very welcoming for those who come with good intentions, as a true friend and reliable partner. Belarus is definitely one of them,” the message of congratulations reads. According to the president, many African countries see Belarus as a reliable partner, and interaction is expanding every year. “We are focused on helping improve competencies in manufacturing, agriculture, on creating new jobs, promoting quality health care, ensuring food security, and training personnel across a wide range of areas,” the head of state emphasized.

According to the president, Minsk is interested in fruitful cooperation with the African Union and its member states, in contributing to the success of the African Renaissance, supporting the rights of peoples to self-determination and protection of their sovereignty. Aleksandr Lukashenko also reaffirmed Belarus’ openness to any forms of interaction, including participation in the work of the Assembly of the African Union in accordance with its Rules of Procedure.

“I count on your support for Belarusian partnership initiatives and invite you to come to Minsk on an official visit to discuss a wide range of issues on the international and regional agenda,” the president said addressing the chairman of the African Union.

Aleksandr Lukashenko wished Mohamed Ould Cheikh AI-Ghazouani and all African leaders peace, health and success in their work towards progress and well-being of their peoples.
