MOSTY, 2 November (BelTA) – Russia has no intention whatsoever to attack Poland, Lithuania, Latvia or Ukraine through Belarus, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at a ceremony to honor agricultural workers at the Dazhynki 2024 festival in the town of Mosty on 2 November, BelTA has learned.
“Russia has no intention whatsoever to attack Poland, Lithuania, Latvia or Ukraine through Belarus. These speculations are complete nonsense” the Belarusian leader stressed. “No one is going to fight with neighbors and NATO from Belarus without our knowledge. It was they who set themselves the goal of strangling us and Russia. Today, moving towards this goal, they are looking for reasons. It's simple: they are looking for a reason to hold us responsible for something."
One of these reasons, according to the head of state, was the situation with illegal migration. Belarus, the president stressed, is not interested in creating tension on the border, but does not intend to protect European countries in this situation. "They impose sanctions against us, and we are supposed to protect them? This will not happen. We honestly told them that," Aleksandr Lukashenko recalled. "Therefore, we are open. We are not creating problems for anyone here."
