Aleksandr Lukashenko
KAZAN, 23 October (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko revealed details of recent negotiations with representatives of Western states during an interview with the BBC reporter Steven Rosenberg on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in the Russian city of Kazan, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “We and these people had agreed to organize confidential negotiations behind closed doors. They are very knowledgeable and sensible people. They had asked to meet with me and I received them.”
In his words, the negotiations lasted for four hours and various matters were raised. “Matters of the conflict in the Middle East were touched upon. [Ukraine President Vladimir] Zelensky says: give me missiles, I will fire at the Kremlin all the way to Kazan. I warned them: guys, be careful with long-range missiles and the rest. Houthis may approach Putin and request shore batteries, which can deliver a terrible strike against ships. What if he supplies Houthis with Bastion weapon systems in retaliation of your providing Zelensky with long-range weapons and at least one aircraft carrier sinks? An English one, an American one, and so on. ‘It is unacceptable for us.’ I said I understand it but it is unacceptable for Putin if you supply long-range missiles and attack entire Russia. They agreed that it would indeed be dangerous. ”
The People’s Republic of China was also discussed during the meeting. Aleksandr Lukashenko warned that if Russia and China pool their efforts, no one will be able to counteract them. In his words, it is already impossible to stop China from the point of view of technology. “We talked a lot about that,” the president said.
The domestic political situation in Belarus, in Russia, and in the West was also discussed. “We discussed many things. They were interested in my point of view. I presented it,” Aleksandr Lukashenko summarized.
