MINSK, 15 October (BelTA) – Retirees have always received support in Belarus, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he heard out the report on improving welfare policies on 15 October, BelTA has learned.
“Pensions were raised twice this year – up 10% and 5%. Retirees need support and they will always get such support here. They should have a normal life,” the Belarusian leader said.
The president also instructed to streamline the pension application procedure as much as possible.
Aleksandr Lukashenko also mentioned that there were still many retirees who would like to continue working. "Certainly, we should create comfortable working environment for them. As you know, the demand in the labor market is very high," the head of state said. "If senior citizens want to work, we should provide them with such an opportunity."
