Lukashenko responds to military rhetoric of Western politicians

MINSK, 6 May (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko responded to the military rhetoric of contemporary Western politicians as he spoke at a solemn assembly to mark the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War in Minsk on 6 May, BelTA has learned.

“I will be brief in my response to the military rhetoric of contemporary politicians of the West. You should remember and understand that we have something to inflict irreplaceable, irreversible damage to any potential aggressor,” the president said.

In his words, the current anniversary of the Great Victory is celebrated at a difficult time. “We are witnessing and participating in a new redivision of the world. This is the peak moment of another round of history, which began, unfortunately, the same 80 years ago,” the Belarusian leader said.

“Having taken refuge across the ocean, the Nazi criminals turned into ‘peaceful ordinary people’ and ‘active citizens’ there. All the while, they inspired their imitators for a new wave of escalation along the West-East line. The result is as follows: Hitler's executioners, who are still alive, are now honored at the state level, while the dead ones are elevated to sainthood. This is happening there, abroad,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
