Lukashenko receives reports from heads of defense, security, law enforcement agencies

MINSK, 31 December (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has heard out reports from chiefs of defense, security, and law enforcement agencies, the press service of the Belarusian leader told BelTA.

Chairman of the State Security Committee (KGB) Ivan Tertel informed the head of state about the current situation around Belarus and about the situation in the country. Belarus’ KGB primarily focuses on efforts to ensure the security of citizens in the committee’s responsibility area. The committee is working in a reinforced mode together with colleagues from other defense, security, and law enforcement agencies.

Internal Affairs Minister Ivan Kubrakov informed the head of state about the crime situation, ongoing crime prevention measures, and efforts to ensure public security ahead of holidays and during holidays. The president instructed the Internal Affairs Ministry to ensure transition of all units, interior troops, and the central staff of the ministry to a reinforced mode.

Emergencies Minister Vadim Sinyavsky informed the head of state about the measures being taken to prevent emergencies, including with a focus on fire safety and other matters concerning the life-sustaining activity of citizens within the scope of specific branches of the Emergencies Ministry.

Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin informed the commander-in-chief about the current state of affairs and the situation around Belarus. Including at the border with neighboring countries. Aleksandr Lukashenko gave instructions to step up vigilance so that Belarus citizens could calmly celebrate the coming of the New Year.

In his report to the president Chairman of the State Border Committee Konstantin Molostov drew attention to efforts to ensure the security of the state border. Taking into account the turbulent situation in neighboring countries, the border service is working hard to protect the state border and stop attempts at wrongdoing despite the public holidays. The work proceeds in association with law enforcement agencies, the army, municipal authorities and the population in the regions.

The president also asked the chiefs of the defense, security, and law enforcement agencies to convey his New Year greetings to the personnel of the ministries and government agencies. And particularly to the guys, who will be on duty on the festive New Year’s night.
