MINSK, 8 May (BelTA) - Quality must become a brand of Belarus, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at the opening ceremony of the Minsk International Exhibition Center on 8 May, BelTA has learned.
“Quality must become a brand of our country. It is for a reason that the current five-year period focuses on quality,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

The head of state stressed that Belarusian manufacturers need to compete in the world markets. “We want to be able to produce and sell. In order to sell, we have to compete in the toughest conditions,” he said.
Domestic specialists are capable of doing a lot, the president emphasized, and cited the construction of the Palace of Independence as an example. “When one high-level delegation was here on a visit, its head, a very influential, rich person came up to me and asked how much this project cost. I gave him an answer. He then asked if we could do it for them for such money. I answered that it would cost them twice as much. It seemed like a joke, but it is true. They saw that we built such a national asset very quickly. They saw that it is of high quality. Our designers and builders did it. By showing our capabilities, we should implement construction projects wherever we are asked to do it,” the head of state explained.
Another example is the construction of a nuclear power plant in Belarus, which was built in close cooperation with Russia. Belarusian specialists acquired the most advanced competencies and experience. Today, they are in demand for the construction of similar facilities in various countries.
“They ask us to help them build, because we do it qualitatively,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. “We are not going to build a reactor, although we can do that, too. Russia makes the reactor. We have to do everything else, and we have learned to do it. This is how we learn the most advanced technologies everywhere. This is the only way to develop, jumping over one, maybe two stages of development.”
