Lukashenko, Putin approve Union State Security Concept

MINSK, 6 December (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Russian President Vladimir Putin approved the Security Concept of the Union State of Belarus and Russia at the Union State Supreme State Council session in Minsk on 6 December, BelTA has learned.

The document has been prepared in connection with the significant changes in the military, political, social and economic situation in the Eastern European region, including in the territory of the Union State, the intensification of sanctions pressure by the West and the ongoing unprecedented information war against the member states.

The Security Concept of the Union State is based, among other things, on the Constitutions of Russia and Belarus, the Union State Foundation Treaty of 8 December 1999, the National Security Concept of Belarus, the National Security Strategy of Russia, and the Military Doctrine of the Union State.

The protection of the vital interests of individuals and society from internal and external threats aimed at undermining national interests and sovereignty, violating the integrity of the member states of the Union State and posing a danger to international peace and strategic stability has been declared the strategic goal of ensuring the Union State security.

Provisions of the Concept will be implemented by means of taking coordinated organizational measures, military measures, technical measures, and other measures to ensure the security of the Union State of Belarus and Russia.
