Lukashenko promises to consider proposal to name street in Minsk after Marshal Bagramyan

MINSK, 12 September (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko promised to consider the proposal to name one of the streets in Minsk in honor of Soviet commander and statesman, Marshal of the Soviet Union Ivan Bagramyan, who took part in the liberation of Belarus during the Great Patriotic War, in the year of the 80th anniversary of Victory, BelTA has learned.

“As for the great Ivan Bagramyan, we need to consider this issue in the near future. This is a great man for all of us, for Belarusians, for sure,” the president emphasized.

The proposal was put forward by Chairman of the Minsk city Armenian cultural and educational society Hayastan Georgy Yeghiazaryan. He emphasized that people in Belarus are treated not on the basis of their nationality, not on the basis of any religious prejudices, but solely on the basis of their professional and, most importantly, human qualities.
