MINSK, 26 August (BelTA) – Heroes of the ongoing harvesting campaign will be particularly rewarded, BelTA learned from Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko.
Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “We always do that. We will do it particularly this year. I look at these guys. They are simple harvester drivers. It is 33C above zero outdoors… And in this heat they toil to gather in cereals, poor things. We will finish harvesting headed cereals today or tomorrow. These people should be rewarded.”
Aleksandr Lukashenko reminded that the country had abandoned the practice of organizing harvest end festivals (dozhinki) at the presidential level and awarding everyone there and then. Now every oblast selects one district and every district selects an agricultural enterprise where harvest end celebrations take place. “We spruce up dozens of locations in this manner. Preparations are organized ahead of dozhinki festivals after all,” he remarked.
