Lukashenko promises competence tests for heads of district administrations

SHKLOV, 9 August (BelTA) – The fulfillment of the presidential instruction “One district – one project” will become kind of an exam for heads of district administrations. The situation will be assessed across the country soon and performance of the personnel on the ground will be evaluated. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the relevant statement at a government conference in Shklov, BelTA has learned.

“A sore point, over which the heads of district administrations may lose their jobs as I’ve already said, is ‘one district – one project’,” the head of state warned.

Another demand of the head of state concerns the restoration of district enterprises in charge of providing agricultural services. “All of them should be restored. Out of the question. If you need the agricultural chemicals division that used to be part of the agricultural services enterprise, go right ahead. Restore some warehouse, a railway line for loading and unloading potassium and other things… But the chairman of the State Control Committee has been instructed: may god have mercy on you if we find some fertilizers, even potash ones, lying in the outdoors. Even if only for a day as you may say. Heaven forbid. It is a lot of money. And nobody will tolerate such mismanagement,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

“The district enterprises in charge of providing agricultural services should be restored. Their functions should be restored. Not only fertilizers. Some of them took care of oil products, spare parts, repairs… Learn from experience, look into it, and do what is necessary,” the Belarusian leader urged.

Aleksandr Lukashenko also urged to pay attention to mobile mechanized construction companies. “How can’t the head of the district administration have a construction company at hand? You need one for some repairs, for building a roof for someone, and maybe for building a house. You have to load them with work little by little,” the head of state demanded.

A more local instruction was given to restore a compound feed mill in Shklov. “The restored enterprise needs to operate at 100% of its capacity. It may even do side jobs. But this mill should not belong to one agricultural enterprise,” the Belarusian leader emphasized. He put Chairman of the Shklov District Executive Committee Sergei Bartosh in charge of overseeing the work of the mill.
