MINSK, 31 December (BelTA) – Patients of the Minsk Regional Children's Clinical Hospital gifted a Christmas tree with greeting cards to Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko as he visited the hospital on 31 December, BelTA learned.
"'We will install this Christmas tree at the Palace of Independence. We need to water it often. It is a perfect gift. I love nature and trees. I will put this gift from the children in plain sight at the Palace of Independence," the head of state said.
On behalf of all the children, one of the young patients wished Aleksandr Lukashenko happiness, good health, success and good luck in the election.
The head of state also visited the ward for kids and their moms. "Poor moms. They are worried about their sick children. I know how they feel. I am not afraid of anything, but when my child was sick, it was a disaster for me. It was stressful and hard for me. When he had a fever, I was very worried," Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
He welcomed the opportunity for children to stay in the hospital together with their parents. The president wished all the young patients a Happy New Year and gave them gifts, among which were teddy bears and sweets.
"Happy New Year to you, too. I wish you happiness, good health, and success in your work," one of the kids congratulated the head of state.
"Thank you. If I succeed in my work, it will benefit all of you," the head of state replied.
Roman Kogodovsky was among the patients. A few years ago, he carried his two-year-old brother out of a burning house, but ended up in intensive care due to severe burns. The best doctors of the capital city fought for the life of the teenager.
"How are you?" the president asked.
"I am fine. I have come for a checkup," Roman replied.
He undergoes regular check-ups, and doctors admit that he is a true hero to them.
The president took a photo with the children and their doctors. Aleksandr Lukashenko wished the children to get better soon and to celebrate the New Year and other holidays at home in the future.
