PETRIKOV DISTRICT, 27 August (BelTA) – Polesie is the salt of the Belarusian nation. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement during a solemn inauguration ceremony of Petrikov Mining and Processing Plant on 27 August, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “You know my attitude to Polesie residents. Polesie is the salt of the Belarusian nation. I have always had a dream of pouring maximum effort into reviving our Polesie. I've always wanted to do something kind for Polesie residents.”
As an example Aleksandr Lukashenko mentioned Zhitkovichi. He described it as an excellent non-industrial district capital. “It surprised me. And what about Turov? It is truly a pearl of Belarus,” he stated.
In his words, Petrikov was incomparable to those population centers in the past. But since then the town has been brought into order while the construction of the mining and processing plant has allowed creating about 1,500 jobs. “Developing the Pripyat River area, this Polesie land was the idea. And this pearl that we've been building for about ten years fits this concept. But it is not the end. We will continue working,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.
