SVISLOCH DISTRICT, 24 June (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko promised to help Kronospan build a furniture factory as he toured the Silva Logistic BY transport and logistics hub in Svisloch District, Grodno Oblast on 24 June, BelTA informs.
The logistics hub belongs to the Kronospan OSB woodworking company. It sells its products both on the domestic market and abroad. According to the head of state, the company could use waste wood, which is in fact a semi-finished product, to produce furniture, for example. But for that it needs to build a factory. “The bigger the added value in Belarus will be, the more we will support you,” Aleksandr Lukashenko assured.
“Choose a location, tell the governor, my aide [Aide to the President - Inspector for Grodno Oblast Yuri Karayev] if you want , they will tell me where you will build the factory. I am taking this matter under control, and we will help you in every possible way. You will buy equipment on your own, and you have enough raw materials,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
The president also promised to support other investment projects of the company.
In 2010 Kronospan signed an investment agreement with the government of Belarus. As part of the agreement, the company built five large production lines in Mogilev and Smorgon to manufacture chipboard, laminated chipboard, MDF, impregnated paper, floor coverings from 2012 to 2016.
In 2010-2016, foreign investment of Kronospan exceeded €919 million; 1,017 jobs were created with an average salary of over $650 in equivalent.
