Lukashenko pledges measures to secure Granit's operation on domestic market

MIKASHEVICHI, 4 June (BelTA) - Measures will be taken in the near future to ensure that no one interferes with the work of Granit enterprise in the domestic market, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with Granit workers on 4 June, BelTA has learned.

“The government will take appropriate measures so that no one would interfere with your work on the domestic market,” said Aleksandr Lukashenko.

The president stated that in 2013 the decision was taken to develop a new deposit - Sitnitskoe. Now the work is slow there. For now Granit needs to at least sell the raw materials from the current deposit Mikashevichi. “First of all, you have to sell what you produce here,” he stressed.

To do that the country needs to open new markets and agree on increasing the supplies to Russia. The government will provide assistance in this matter. “I instructed the government to immediately contact the Russians. We will try to help you here. Both they and we are in a difficult situation: everyone wants to pressure us. So that Russia, a nuclear power, could not raise its head. We are in the same boat with them today,” the head of state said.

But in addition to other countries, the company should be more active in the domestic market, the president said. For example, Belarus imports crushed stone from Ukraine.

“We easily give away our markets to others. They put up barriers for us, starting from the air and ending with the goods that we are trying to sell there. We will look at our domestic market to protect it,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
