MINSK, 8 February (BelTA) – Members of election commissions should be protected during the upcoming constitutional referendum, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at the Security Council meeting on 8 February, BelTA has learned.
According to the president, members of precinct commissions and other election commissions are the main target now. “We agreed that these people should be protected in every possible way. Such a command was given to the law enforcement. Our interior minister has spoken about it recently. Those who are working for the government should not worry. We are no longer in the kind of situation we had in 2020 and we will be able to protect everyone. This is our sacred duty. God forbid they harm at least one person. You know what will happen,” the head of state warned.
“The power vertical, the economic bloc, law enforcement agencies need to take additional measures to ensure safety and peaceful life of people in the coming period,” Aleksandr Lukashenko instructed.
